Star Drive and Orbit
Since the last post is getting so long in regards to replies, I thought of making another post to continue the discussion here. So here we have it: Discounting episodes, part II... | | Saturday, March 29th, 2008 | | 4:03 am |
Blakes 7
I've decided to include Blakes 7 as a topic for discussion on this journal, feel free to debate, praise the programme or criticize it. Differences in opinion are fine and dandy with me. (I just don't want people flaming other posters.) I first saw Blakes 7 in my early teens. I read Afterlife and Terrible Aspect. I got back into it again last year, shortly before Peter Tuddenham died. I wondered why I stayed away from Blakes 7 for so long and then I got to season 4 and remembered why. I never forgot "Blake." That was etched in my memory. I don't see how anyone could forget that story, even if they've only seen it once. However, I forgot how disturbing some of the other stories in S4 were. | | Monday, May 14th, 2007 | | 4:01 am |
Kangs
I was a teen when Paradise Towers came out. I wonder if I would have liked it if the Kangs weren't so dorky. I don't know if the writers thought we teens would see them as a cool bad-a$$ girl gang, but I certainly didn't. *giggles* The Kangs get to me worse than the Knights who say Nee at you. :) | | Tuesday, February 27th, 2007 | | 4:54 pm |
X-files : Paper Hearts
I'm watching X-files on sci-fi. Paper Hearts is the story. I love it when Mulder says, "And you're in the wrong house you stupid son of a bitch! You were never in this house you liar!" Yeah, Mulder, tell it like it is! | | Saturday, February 17th, 2007 | | 4:09 pm |
My DW blog
This is my personal DW blog, not to be confused with the community page. I come here to praise or complain about things concerning Doctor Who. One thing that irritates me is some of the fans I encounter in fan websites. And no, I don't have a problem with you, Galanar. Rose lovers. You know the type. "OMG Rose is the best companion ever the Doctor totally loved her how dare you not like Rose u r mean Doctor Who won't be the same ever-whaaaaah! Those types. They typically can't use punctuation worth a damn either. Stupid soap opera watching pea brains if you ask me. Yeah, RTD created a new fan base. Here is the problem, he focused the show around Rose. It should have been called "Rose and Doctor Who." Now I read silly posts like, "can the new companion fit Rose's shoes?" Yeah, I'll bet she will, she'll make Rose's shoes look way too small. What is it with people these days? When did drippy crappy soap elements become so popular? I have not seen this with other sci-fi. And before you say "Buffy" that is not sci-fi, but fantasy horror. I also talk about other subjects here from time to time. Other fandom, etc. | | Wednesday, February 7th, 2007 | | 8:35 pm |
Doctor Who TOS
I wish Classic Doctor Who was called Doctor Who the Original Series. Sounds better to me. The name of the community page is classic_who, because that is how most seem to refer to it. Star Trek calls its first series Star Trek TOS. So I wish it was Doctor Who TOS. After listening to a pod cast interview of Colin Baker, he stated that he had just learned that there was "New Who" and his time in the show was referred to as Classic Who. Then one of the interviewers said watch out, you'll be called vintage next, or something like that. So I wonder if calling it "classic" makes people feel old, or makes the show feel antique. Another reason why I wish it was called Doctor Who TOS. Not important in the scheme of things-I know. | | Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007 | | 8:23 am |

Fox Movie Not Classic DW
I hate how the Fox Movie is lumped with the Classic Series. It isn't classic series. I've read dissertations on why it isn't. Some people actually have done scholarly research on Doctor Who. What is cannon and what it not. So it not just my opinion. As the scholarly anoraks point out, the Fox movie was not part of the classic series run; also it was not produced by the BBC. It has all the merit of a Peter Cushing film. Just because S. McCoy was tossed in for 2 mins doesn't make it valid. Some people it seems, especially younger Brits, really like this film. I assumed it would be seen as American piece of crap. I pity those for who this is there first Doctor Who experience. The premise of Doctor Who, the continuity was just...fucked up in that film. Some were just happy to have Dr. Who back. I was at first too. Until I saw it. Since then I've been a skeptic. I'd rather remember the Doctor and Ace strolling off into the sunset, than the rest of the muddle that came after. I hate seeing the Fox Film overshadow 20 years of good television. Some people want to post in forums, "Doctor Who 1963-1996".Umm, no. Its 1963 to 1989. See the movie as an interim if you want. A bridge between the old and new. However, a film thats only ten years old might be dated, but not a classic. Current Mood: discontent | | Saturday, July 23rd, 2005 | | 12:50 am |
Goodbye Mr. Scott
Goodbye James Doohan. Its always sad when childhood heroes pass away. I'll take a moment and pay my respects to Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Terry Nation, John Nathan-Turner, and Douglas Adams. Current Mood: sad | | Friday, July 15th, 2005 | | 10:59 pm |
Finding Classic Who
It is so hard to find the old Dr. Who episodes I want. I can't even find them in UK format, much less American. | | Friday, April 29th, 2005 | | 12:59 am |
Hitchhiker's Guide
Each time I see a new Hitchhikers Trailer, the more Un-Hitchhiker's it seems. This last trailer I saw, I wouldn't have thought it was Hitchhiker's if they hadn't plugged the title at the end. I am inclined to believe M.J. Simpson...it is not the script that D.N.A. wanted. I'll know when I see the film, but I am not rushing out to see it. Star Wars Episode 3
I can't wait for it to come out, I think it will be the best of all. Current Mood: excited |
